Defeat knocks AKCC off top

LUTON Haiderys eased to victory over AKCC on Tuesday night, knocking their opponents from top spot to third place.

The victory ensured Haiderys moved up to second as they restricted AKCC to 106-6 with only Jeetu Singh (27) standing out amongst their batsman, while Masroor Raja took 2-27.

Haiderys chased the total down with ease thanks to Jibran Azam (31) and Rizwan Sadiq (44) as they won by 10 wickets.

Luton Pakistanis moved back to the summit as they thrashed Lions CC.

Pakistanis opted to bat first and they posted 122 as Ibrar Walayat top scored with 26.

Lions CC were then blown away for just 45 as Pakistanis bowlers bowled brilliantly, especially Tasawar Hussain (3-21) and Tasir Hussain (2-1).

In the bottom of the table clash, Luton CC registered their first win of the season as they beat fellow strugglers Luton Cricketers by 34 runs.

Luton CC made 111-9 as Adnan Kiyani took three wickets.

In reply Luton Cricketers were always struggling as they lost early wickets to Nasar who claimed five and were eventually bowled out for only 77.

After the shock cup exit to Division One team Luton Majestics, Luton Hawks were back in action as they beat Kashmir Cavaliers.

This was their fourth win of the season and it takes them to fourth in the table with only run-rate separating them from second spot.

Luton Majestics have kept the pressure on Kingsway CC as they climbed to second.

After their impressive win in the cup against Hawks, Majestic’s were up against Luton Saracens.

Saracens opted to bat first, and thanks to their top order firing they managed to make 121-5 as Sageer Ahmed hit 30 and M Khalid scored 29, while Raza Iqbal took 3-17.

Majestics once again had Iqbal in fine form with the bat too as he smashed an unbeaten 83 to take his side over the line in the last over.

LU Stars continued their good form, as they climbed to third in the table after seeing off The Saracens who batted first.

With only Haji Rizwan contributing 24, Saracens were bowled out for a lowly 84 thanks to some outstanding bowling by Adrees Butt, who snared 4-14.

The Stars had contributions from Mohammed Fayaz 39 and Asfan Javed 22 to see their team home.

AKXI were involved in a thrilling victory over Haidery Tigers who fell short by a mere five runs.

AKXI posted a modest total of 103-6 which included good knocks from M Mahmood (27) and Israr Ahmed (32).

The AKXI bowlers then produced some economic spells with Mohammed Affan taking 4-16 to restrict Tigers to only 99-9 despite the best efforts from Farooq Ahmed who made 29.

Challney are still seeking their first win of their season as they lost to Shaheen CC.

Although Challney batted well to finish on 115-4 with Naveed Ahmed top scoring with 58, it wasn’t to be enough.

Shaheen, who have been involved in a few nail-biting games, left this one late too as they won in the last over with Saeed Jaral hitting 49.
