Dismal weekend as Dunstable lose six from six

The Saturday firsts plummeted to the bottom of the Saracens Herts League Championship as they succumbed by seven wickets to previous basement side Flitwick.

Brad Matthews made 25, while Sam Cherry (29) and Luke Cherry (30) dug in as Dunstable were all out for 129.

The Cherry brothers reduced Flitwick to 13-2, but their opponents had little trouble in reaching 132-3.

The IIs’ lead at the top of Division Four B was cut to three points as they lost by three wickets to Northampton Exiles. Ian Gilbert hit 58 whilst Dave Barker made 28, but despite a late wag from the tail, Harry McBrearty blasting 17 not out and David Wagstaff 15, Dunstable only made 147.

Awais Khan then took 3-31 whilst Wagstaff and Gilbert claimed two wickets each, as Exiles reached 148-7.

The IIIs lost heavily by 115 runs to Little Berkhamsted in Division Eight B.

Adam Lewis and Ciaran Newton took two wickets each for Dunstable as they were hit for a mammoth 251-6.

Despite 21 from Lewis and James Bromhall’s (24) best efforts to secure a draw, once they departed, Dunstable were bowled out for just 136.

Adam Stearn’s 4-22 wasn’t enough to prevent the IVs’ struggles continuing in the Beds Invitation League Division Two at Sandy on Saturday as they lost by 73 runs.

Stearn picked up 4-22, while Sam Spokes claimed three wickets as Sandy were bowled out for 199.

However, Dunstable could only manage 126 all out, thanks to Pete Treharne (24) and Ryan McGauran (26).

On Sunday, Awais Khan bagged 4-24 on Sunday as Dunstable IIs were set 225 to win by Biggleswade after the hosts finished on 224-8 in their Beds County League Division One clash.

Jack Kilduff (38) and Mark Smith (28) put on 50 for the Dunstable’s second wicket, before they collapsed from 92-1 to 131 all out to lose by 93 runs.

The IIIs lost by 13 runs to Luton Town & Indians IIIs in Division Three. Harry Wright (2-35) and Joe Moss (3-32) helped restrict Indians to 202-7, but Dunstable fell short at 189-9, despite the efforts of Naveed Ahmed (38) and James Bromhall (38).
