Put into bat, Harlington made 241-6 from 44 overs as Dan Read top scored with a belligerent 74 from 60 balls, ably supported by Neil Smith (63) and Terry Payne (41 not out).

Gavin Knight was the pick of the Milton Bryan bowlers with 3-40 from his 10 overs.

In reply, Milton Bryan fell well short of the victory target, despite the best efforts of Pete Young (66) and James Barrington (39) who shared a 60 run second wicket partnership.

They eventually finished on 179-8, as Mark Price was Harlington’s best bowler with 3-16 from his five overs.

Both Caddington teams registered wins at the weekend. The firsts beat Olney IIs by 31 runs in Division Four, after batting first and making 141 all out, with Jamie Chesterman top-scoring with 39.

Haroon Haq then starred with the ball, posting figures of 4-20 as Olney were dismissed for 110, although Matt Hopkinson provided some resistance, batting for 43 overs before being cruelly run out for 42.

Caddington IIs travelled to Eaton Bray IIs in Division Six where they chased down the hosts’ 206 with just one ball to spare.

Omar Shah took five wickets and hit 44 for the visitors, with Ghaf Shabir’s crucial unbeaten 94 guiding his side to a thrilling victory.
