Hawks have their wings clipped by Pakistanis

PREMIER Division leaders Luton Pakistanis claimed a huge victory over second-placed Luton Hawks to move 12 points clear at the top of the table.

Hawks, who were looking to close the gap, elected to bat first but could only manage 100-9 in their allotted overs with Zahid Khan (36) and Tanveer Hussain (24) making starts, while Tahir Murtuza claimed 3-39.

In return, Pakistanis started off slowly with their run chase but Murtuza came to the crease and blasted an unbeaten 41 to lead his team home.

Lions CC moved out of the relegation zone after they overcame bottom side Luton CC.

Ishaq Shah was in great touch making 58, while Nasir Shah (25) also got in on the act to help Lions post 132-7.

Struggling Luton CC got off to a decent start with Saghir Nazir hitting 26 but they were restricted to 109 all out as Mohammed Shehzad claimed 4-22.

Luton Haiderys kept alive their hopes of retaining the title as they hammered Kashmir Cavaliers.

Haiderys blasted away to reac 164-5 with Asif Khan (53) and Riaz Shah (50) putting on 100 for the first wicket, although Sohail Wajid (4-35) impressed with the ball.

In reply Cavaliers were always behind the run-rate as they lost quick wickets as Zawar Shah took 3-14.

Owais Shah (29) and Shahid Hussain (42) made the only significant contributions as Cavaliers dropped into the relegation zone.

Luton Cricketers managed their second win of the season after they beat AKCC in a close contest.

Cricketers bowled superbly as they dismissed AKCC for 106 with Abdul Basit taking 2-32.

Luton’s chase got off to a sticky start, but Basit completed a marvellous all-round performance by making a vital 26 to take his team home.

Luton Majestics remain top of Division One as they recorded a fine win over Luton United Stars.

Majestics, who have been in some rich free-scoring form, made their way to 132-7 as Muddaser Hussain (26), Assad Rashid (26) and Tahir Iqbal (23) all made valuable contributions.

Stars never got going when they batted as Iqbal’s 4-29 helped bowl them out for 115.

Kingsway moved to second spot with a huge win over Challney.

Kingsway elected to bat first as Gurdeep Jandu smashed a brilliant unbeaten 86 with Assad Hussain and Atif Ali each contributing 27 to help post a massive 168-1.

Zahoor Malik (4-5) and Zahid Khan (2-3) then bowled outstandingly to skittle Challney for a meagre 35.

Haidery Tigers registered an important win over Shaheen as they managed to post 129-5 with Anwar Malik (39) and Amjed Khan (39) both playing well.

Khan was also on fire with the ball, taking 3-18 to keep Shaheen to 95-9 with only Waqas Mahmood 39 making a notable score.

AKXI continued their recent form to move out of the relegation zone after beating Luton Saracens.

AKXI had Ansar Shazad (65) in good touch as he helped his side post 116-5.

Saracens, who are struggling themselves, could only manage 104-9 due to some great bowling from Irfan Moeed who took a brilliant 5-19

Next Wednesday will be the Midweek League Cup Final between Kingsway CC and Luton Majestics.

The match will be at Luton Town & Indians Ground in Upper Wardown Park and the 18 over contest starts at 6pm.
