Hussain snares a super seven

LUTON Pakistanis cruised to a five-wicket win in the Luton & District Midweek Cricket Premier Division on Tuesday night after Tasir Hussain ripped through Luton Cricketers’ batting line-up with an outstanding spell of bowling.

Cricketers managed to scrape to 106 thanks to Asif’s 32 and Zulfiqar Hussain’s 26, but Tasir caused havoc and finished with amazing figures of 7-15 from just four overs.

Pakistanis cruised to their target with Shabaz making 51 as they went top of the table.

Lions CC suffered their first defeat since the 2009 season against Kashmir Cavaliers.

Cavaliers made a massive 168-5 with Sohail Wajid hitting 46 and Maratab Hussain chipping in with 35.

Lions came out all guns blazing, but could only reach 141-8.

Newly-promoted Luton CC suffered their second consecutive defeat, this time to AKCC.

AKCC managed 151-5 but Luton CC came up short on 128-8 with Wajid Hussain taking 3-26.

Champions Luton Haiderys, who suffered a heavy defeat last week, were bowled for just 84 by Luton Hawks.

But Haiderys fought back remarkably to dismiss Hawks for only 64, with Hassan taking three wickets.

Kingsway CC brushed aside Challney CC as they went top of Division One. Challney got off to a poor start, losing early wickets, with Haleem Mohammed taking 2-18.

A solid partnership between Khuram, 46 not out, and Mohammed Chouldary, 26, helped them to 110.

Omraiz Khan made an outstanding 49 not out to guide his team home with good support from Gurdeep Jandu who hit a quickfire 16.

Experienced Luton Saracens and AKXI clashed, with Saracens comfortably winning by 45 runs.

Batting first, Saracens piled on 148 with Sageer contributing 55.

AKXI, who are looking to bounce back into the top flight, struggled to 103 and found themselves well short of the target.

After a nail-biting finish last week, where Luton Majestics lost by five runs, they edged past LU Stars, playing their first match of the season, by just seven runs.

Majestics made 109-5, Raza Iqbal registering 41, before shining with the ball to record a haul of 3-11 and help to restrict LU Stars to 102-9.
