Rain denies Dunstable victory chance

The first team were looking for their first win of the season and put themselves in a good position against Stevenage as they scored 210 for seven from their 50 overs.

Opener Ben Welch struck 36, while Guy Hill anchored the innings with 84 from 129 balls.

But it wasn’t to be for Dunstable as Luke Cherry took two early wickets before the rain fell and the game was abandoned with the visitors 54 for two.

It was a similar story at Ampthill, where the IIs posted 308-6.

Andy Boocock hit a superb 124 while in-form captain Sam Marshall was 90 not out.

But once again the rain intervened with Ampthill 60 without loss off 10 overs.

The IIIs won in bizarre circumstances as they made 295 for three from their 50 overs.

Openers Ned Whitney and Steve Rumball made 51 and 71 before Adam Lewis hit 40 and Richard Kilduff an unbeaten 66.

After a rain delay at tea, Waltham Cross Rosedale refused to bat which saw Dunstable win as the visitors conceded.

Prirvhi Dixit hit 48 for the IVs with Shoaib Rashid adding 36 as they made 160-9 against Codicote, before the game was washed out with the hosts 43 for one.

The Sunday first team had Sam Cherry to thank for their win against Luton on Sunday as he started with bat and ball.

Cherry hit 62 as Dunstable racked up 233 for eight in 45 overs before bowling Luton out for 176, with Cherry taking five for 21.

The Sunday IIs batted first and scored 156 for nine from their 45 overs as Ian Horton hit an unbeaten 67.

This wasn’t enough for Dunstable as Eggington chased their target for the loss of eight wickets despite four wickets for Awais Khan and three for Ayub Khan.

The Sunday IIIs were left with three losses from four games as they were set 215 by Ampthill.

Phil Lewis made 67 and Dean Woods 35 in reply, but it wasn’t enough to stop Dunstable being bowled out for 198.
