Raja hits a stunning ton in Shaheen romp

The Luton Midweek Cricket League had their first round of matches on Tuesday night.

In the Premier Division, Shaheen hammered Luton Eagles by 109 runs.

Batting first, Shaheen totalled 166-2 in 16 overs, as star man Baber Raja hit a magnificent 130 not out from 58 balls, including 11 sixes and nine fours

Eagles then collapsed to 57 all out in 12.1 overs as Kadeer Khan took 3-9, Muhammad Kamran 2-2 and Khateeb Mirza 2-5.

Luton Haiderys were also victorious, defeating Luton CC by 52 runs.

Haiderys managed 158-4 from 16 overs, with MOM Hendrick Brown making 52.

Luton CC never seriously challenged that total as they were restricted to 106-7 .

The Saracens suffered a four wicket defeat against Luton Pakistanis.

Batting first, Saracens made 117-6 as Mazamble Hayat claimed 3-16 from four overs.

He then added an unbeaten 21 as Pakistanis reached 122-2 with four balls remaining.

In Division One, AKXI slipped to a five wicket defeat against Accident Specialists after a poor batting display.

Star man Zaheer took 4-18 from four overs as AKXI were skittled for just 46.

Specialists then reached 47-5 in 8.3 overs in a commanding performance.

AKCC proved too strong for Luton Hawks in their 28-run triumph.

Tokeer Ahmed made 39 as Hawks reached 104-6, a target Hawks couldn’t reach, ending on 76-5 from 16 overs.

LU Stars held on to beat Saracens by four runs.

Batting first, Stars made 123-6, with star man Asad Ahmed scoring 31.

He then claimed two wickets in one over as Saracens ended up just short on 119-8.

Division Two action saw Challney enjoy an 18-run win over Hatters.

Afridi scored an unbeaten 25 for Challney in their total of 124-7.

He then took 2-14 from three overs as Hatters finished on 106-7.

Crickets slumped to a nine wicket loss against Kingsway.

Batting first, Cricketers were all out for just 57, with Rishi Chandanan taking a superb 6-20. Kingsway then eased to their target, making 58-1 in 13 overs.

C Tigers were edged out by one wicket in their clash with H igers.

The hosts were dismissed for 76 as M Majid took two wickets, before H Tigers just made it home at 77-9 thanks to Majid’s undefeated 14.
