Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League changes for 2014 season will affect our teams

Luton Town & Indians and Dunstable Town Cricket Clubs will be affected by changes to the Saracens Herts League structure next season following a series of meetings involving the 13 Hertfordshire-based Home Counties Premier League (HCPL) Clubs and 12 clubs from Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League (SHCL) Division One and Two.

A Special General Meeting was arranged for October 28 and clubs voted 19-5 in favour to create a Hertfordshire League Premier Division and a Championship for the 2015 season.

The HCPL sides would make up the Premier Division of 10 sides and the majority of the 10 Championship sides, leaving the SHCL Division One sides playing for the remaining places, using league positions in 2014 to determine this.

An Extraordinary General Meeting on November 13 passed a resolution to start the new structure next year, 2014.

A cricket sub-committee, formed from the 25 sides, was due to meet on Monday night to finalise the details and the composition of the new top two divisions – the Premier League and the Championship – and the playing conditions and match rules.

The SHCL Executive will meet on the November 25 to discuss how this will affect the divisional structure below and it is expected a new proposal with all the changes will go out to all clubs by the end of November.
