Shahzad and Raja set Shaheen on their way

Shaheen enjoyed a 17-run victory over Lions CC in their Luton Midweek League Premier Division clash on Tuesday night.

Batting first, Shaheen made 140-6 from 16 overs as Naeem Shahzad top scored with 44 in just 31 balls with seven fours and one six.

He put on 94 for the opening wicket with Babar Raja, who also made 44 from just 26 deliveries, hitting six fours and two sixes.

Lions bowlers Jued (2-20) and Haseeb Ahmed (2-32) were the main wicket-takers.

When chasing, Lions saw Javed top-score with 59 from 41 balls, but they fell short at 123-7 with MOM Shahzad taking 2-23, with Kamran Choudhery picking up 3-17 and Ahtzaz Ahmed 2-28.

Luton Pakistanis beat Luton CC by 58 runs in their clash.

Batting first, LPCC totalled 157-4 thanks to star man Zahid Khan’s 44 as Luton were then dismissed for 99.

Haiderys saw off The Saracens by 47 runs as MOM Nazakat Khan hit 60 in their total of 164-2.

That was too much for their opponents, who were restricted to 117-5.

In Division One, LU Stars defeated A Specialists by six wickets.

Specialists had first use of the wicket, making 92-6 as Idrees Butt took 1-14 from four overs.

Stars then took their time in reply, but eventually reached 93-4 in the 15th over.

Luton Saracens suffered a four wicket defeat against AKXI.

Batting first, Saracens put 127-3 on the board, but Hajeeb Akram’s innings of 44 saw AKXI to 128-6.

Hawks were too strong for K Cavaliers in their nine run victory.

Wielding the willow, Hawks made 133-6, with Cavaliers falling short on 124-8 as Naeem Ahkter finished with figures of 4-24.

Division Two saw Hatters edge out C Tigers by six runs.

Ejaz was the top performer for Hatters, scoring 34 in his side’s 105 all out, with Tigers only managing 99-8.

H Tigers couldn’t defend a total of 127-7 as they lost by six wickets to Challney.

Star man Al Mahmud Hassan hit a marvellous unbeaten 73 for Challney as they reached 129-4 with two overs to spare.

Kingsway were excellent eight wicket winners over Majestics.

The victors had to chase down 149-4, but did so in the 13th over at 150-2, thanks to the efforts of MOM Gurdeep Jandu (75).
