Wagh hits superb double ton in Indians' huge victory

Sachin Wagh hit a superb unbeaten double century in Luton Town & Indians' mammoth 232-run victory over Blunham in the Beds County League Premier Division clash on Sunday.

After opener Sajad Homyoon was out for 22, Wagh came to the crease and joined forces with opener and captain Thomas Mills in a stunning second wicket stand.

Mills was out for 120, before Wagh continued on his merry way, as he was there at he end, finishing 207 not out as his side made 419-3 from 45 overs.

Blunham were never in the hunt afterwards, as although opener Connor Heaps hit 87, the visitors finished on 187-5.

Mohammad Ahmadzai took 3-24, while there were wickets for Asif Hassan (1-39) and Mohammed Ismael (1-41).

The IIs fell short by 25 runs in their Division Two clash at Stevenage.

The hosts made 322-6 from 45 overs, with Luton finishing on 297-7 in reply, while the IIIs were 163-run winners at Blunham IIs in Division Three.

Batting first, Luton put 253-5 on the board, while Blunham could only muster a paltry 90 all out.

The IVs were awarded the points in Division Five as Eaton Socon IIs couldn’t field a team.

On Saturday, Indians were beaten in a thriller by Letchworth Garden City, as they fell six runs short in their Saracens Herts League Championship clash.

The hosts elected to bat as they were dismissed for 198, with spinner Monty Panesar taking 3-23, while Nitin Parsooth claimed 3-46.

Luton were then 64-2 in reply, before slipping to 95-6 as although Sachin Wagh made 76 with six fours and one six, once he was dismissed Luton were in trouble on 168-8.

The last pair came together at 169-9 and added 23 valuable runs, before Mohammed Irshad was bowled for 18 as his side were all out for 192, finishing just short.

The IIs were winners, beating Letchworth IIs by four wickets in Division Three B.

A fine bowling display from M Ismail (3-37) and Gurpreet Singh (3-25) saw the hosts dismissed for 173, before opening batsman Jeremy Page produced a fine knock of 83 not out to lead his side to their target, as they made 174-6 in the 49th over.

The IVs were hammered by Pirton, defeated by nine wickets.

Only Mushtaq Dalvi (12), Bhoja Karavadra (12) and Jabar Safi (10) made double figures as Luton were shot out for 56.

Pirton then had little trouble in reaching 57-1 inside 10 overs, Dharmesh Mistry (1-37) taking the only wicket for Indians.
