Defeat has Park baffled

Stockwood Park 17 Vipers 22

STOCKWOOD Park turned in their best performance of the season but were somehow beaten 22-17 in their Midlands Two East South clash with Vipers on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead after six minutes through a penalty and made it 8-0 with an unconverted try. Stockwood raised their tempo and started to dominate and, with the lineout working well, they could have had three tries.

Jason Walker stretched his legs twice to almost break clear after fine work by Martin Rowe, but was foiled by superb defence on both occasions.

The third effort saw well-worked ball from a lineout give the hosts’ forwards a chance from one metre out, but their body positions were too high and Vipers held out.
