The lead was doubled on 24 minutes though as Downes’ corner was bundled over the line by Rob Newman.

It was 3-0 after half an hour when Toomey’s shot was parried by Musgrove and Newman nipped in to score.

Completely against the run of play Wodson got back into the game just before half time as Daniel Mead was harshly penalised for handball and Peter Sawyer stepped up to send Dean Bull the wrong way .

In the second period, Crawley should have wrapped up victory as Stuart Strange rounded the keeper, but Pemberton fired over the open goal.

Wodson then hit the post, but Crawley broke away and Strange fed Jake Alderson who completed the scoring.
