Chairman Simon Bullard said: “Steve will be a great appointment, as he also takes an interest in youth football, which has been missing in the past.

“We will give him all the support he needs.”

Heath gained two promotions with Kings Langley and won numerous cups, while at Green he took them to fourth in the Premier Division in 2010-11, the last 16 of the FA Vase and won the West Herts Charity Cup.

The new boss, who is a Level 2 coach and is working his way to a UEFA B qualification, said: “When you are taking over from a management team that has been successful over the last eight years with the football they have played, the loyalty they have rightly deserved from the players and supporters, it is never going to be easy.”

Meanwhile, Gareth Harnaman, Dale Turney, Kyle Lincoln and Richard Harker have also gone, as departing caretaker boss Kevin Taylor added: “I’m disappointed to be leaving having been given very limited time to achieve anything.”
