AFC Dunstable succumbed to three second half set-pieces, including an injury-time winner as they lost 3-2 to Stotfold in Molten Spartan SML Premier on Tuesday night.

The visitors went into the game with six regulars missing, while with skipper James Baldry injured, Kyle Lincoln led the team.

He was rewarded on 28 minutes when AFC were awarded a penalty for handball and the captain confidently converted.

Looking to build on the lead in the second half, AFC started to give away silly free kicks and Stotfold moved 2-1 in front with goals on 73 and 76 minutes.

The visitors hit back though and drew level late on as Danny Ryan fired home from close range.

However, Stotfold struck the winner with the last kick as AFC boss Alex Butler said: “I thought we had ironed out our set-piece problem but it returned.

“Saying that though, we had a makeshift defence, but to be fair, this is a squad game and the players who come in must be up for the challenge.

“I now have to lift them for Saturday, when the dangerous Colney Heath come calling and it would be a travesty if we do not clinch third place.”
