AFC Dunstable Ladies blown away

It was a competitive first half when both teams had chances to score but it was Lowestoft took the lead after 25 minutes when after excellent passing move the striker hit a low shot into the corner.

All afternoon the visitors passed the ball with power and purpose. They added a second when the striker found herself out wide, ran towards the goal and appeared to scuff the shot which beat the Dunstable keeper, who had tried to anticipate where the shot was gong only to find it going in the opposite direction.

AFC Dunstable pulled one back with 10 minutes of the first half left when a good pass by Kerry Stratton allowed Tamera Byrne to slot past the oncoming keeper for her third goal in two games.

AFC Dunstable started the second half with a positive belief but the young Lowestoft team, full of running, slowly picked AFC off and scored five in the second half for their fifth win in five Eastern Region Premier games.

It’s another tough fixture for AFC on Sunday when they head to second placed side Billericay Town.

Luton Town Ladies were without a game at the weekend - they visit Leighton Town this Sunday.

Luton Town Ladies Reserves made the trip to Hampstead WFC on Sunday where despite a good effort they went down 2-1.

Town started well and it was clear to see any success was to be had down the left flank as Jael Muzzi continually out-paced the defence.

A brief lack of concentration enabled Hampstead to play a ball through to their striker who converted eight minutes in.

The game developed into a physical encounter with hefty challenges being put in by the larger Hampstead players.

The Town players kept their cool, eventually earning a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Up stepped Jodi McClellend, back representing the Reserves, which sailed over the floundering keeper and into the net, for a 38th-minute equaliser.

Into the second half Town Nkiru Akpom’s free kick went narrowly wide while Elena Perides was called upon to make a goalline clearance.

With seven minutes to go it looked like it would end all square but with tiredness setting in, Luton conceded possession and Hampstead took advantage, netting the winner with five minutes to go.

Manager Dave Segust said: “This was a spirited effort against a larger and very physical team.”

Luton Town U16s emerged 3-1 victors at home to E B Lions on Saturday .

The first half was a very tight scrappy affair so it was no surprise that both first half goals came from defensive mistakes, Aimee Esser scoring for Luton late in the first half to level the scores.

Luton did start to play flowing football in patches in the second half and were rewarded when player of the match Chloe Fitzsimmonds scored two late goals to give Luton all three points.
