Rovers finished a superb sixth in Southern League Division One Central last year, but boss Dan Kennoy stepped down as Byrne took the reins with former goalkeeper Richard Wilmot.

The club have managed to retain most of the squad who performed so well though as Byrne said: “We have managed to keep the nucleus of the squad that made history for Barton Rovers finishing the highest position ever last season with a creditable sixth place.

“Kyle Forster, Paul Andrews, Peter Gatti, Liam McDevitt, Kevin Kilroy, Joe Reynolds and Keshi Anderson have all committed for the coming season.

“Adding the successful youth players in Aaron Fulton, Alex Condon, Rob Norman, Cody O’Neil, Billy Lannon and Kenny Ogbuana keeps us hopeful of maturing some more local talent through the club this season along with being competitive again.”

James Peter, Ricky Young and Ashley Fitton have joined as has former Barton youth player and MK Dons youth player Connor Vincent, plus former Stevenage and Hitchin attacking midfielder/forward Ben L’Honere.
