Barton fall to defeat number five

Barton Rovers 0 Godalming Town 2

Barton Rovers turned in a much improved performance against Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central leaders Godalming Town at the weekend, but still fell to their fifth successive league defeat.

After the break, Godalming took the upper hand and Scott Harris opened the scoring on 52 minutes with a fine solo effort.

Warren Harris doubled the lead on 58 minutes with a 20-yard strike after Rovers’ defence failed to close him down. Barton never gave up though as Rhys Hoenes, Ricky Case, Bobby Dance and Phil Smeaton all had chances, but couldn’t find the net.

Rovers travel to fourth-placed Daventry Town tonight.
