Barton Rovers eying up ex-Hatter

FORMER Luton Town striker Liam George is training with old club Barton Rovers following his release from Hitchin Town, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 32-year-old striker played over 100 times for the Hatters in a five-year spell at Kenilworth Road, scoring more than 20 goals.

Rovers are also taking a look at ex-Rushden defender Jake Gillingwater, while they have signed utility player Danny Payne from Hitchin.

Barton manager Dan Kennoy is on the lookout for new players after his side dropped to the bottom of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central table as they lost 1-0 to St Neots at Sharpenhoe Road on Monday.
