Bedfordshire League preview: March 5

Saturday's action in the Premier Division supported by Sportsform will see all of the major title contenders enjoying home advantage.

At their Playing Field headquarters current league leaders Renhold United will be seeking their sixth home win on the bounce when visited by twelfth place Pavenham who are currently on a three game losing run and have won just the twice on the road all season at Elstow Abbey and Caldecote.

Whilst at Church Lane the visitors to face second place AFC Oakley M&DH are sixth place Cranfield United. M&DH looking to stretch their unbeaten home ways up to eight games against a United side that has been beaten just the once in their last eight league outings.

Meantime over at Jubilee Playing Fields where third place Wilstead have been beaten just the twice all season by the two clubs sitting above them in the league standings the visitors are in form Sharnbrook who are currently unbeaten in their last six league outings and unbeaten on the road since losing at Renhold United back in late October some six outings ago.

Whilst at Hillgrounds fifth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College will be expected to pick up their third league win on the bounce when called upon by second from bottom of the table Eastcotts AFC whose away record to date this season reads, played 10 Lost 9 Won 1.

Likewise down at the Football Centre fourth place Flitwick Town with just one home defeat to their name this season will start firm favourites to collect another three points against the visiting bottom of the table Elstow Abbey who are still in search of their first away point of the season in this game number nine.

Other action comes at Weston Park being the venue at which ninth place Marston Shelton Rovers now unbeaten in their last three home outings play host to eighth place Ampthill Town Reserves whose last away win came back in December at Sandy some seven games ago. Whilst at Hitchin Road for seventh place Shefford Town & Campton beaten just three times on home soil this season the visitors are Sandy whose only two away wins of the season to date came back in the opening month of the season at Elstow Abbey and Sharnbrook.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford action for league leaders Sundon Park Rangers who still remain unbeaten in league action this season brings to their Stockwood Park Athletic Track complex ninth place Riseley Sports who having lost seven of their eight away outings in the league this season suggests the Rangers should collect another three points to remain eight points clear of second place Stevington who hit the road for a Mill Lane outing against the ever improving seventh place Potton Town who will be seeking to take their unbeaten home ways up to six games.

Also on the road will be third place Queens Park Crescents who journey to Groveside to face tenth place Henlow who are now winners of their last three home outings. Whilst fourth place Meltis Albion seek their second away on the bounce when they journey to Hillgrounds for a 3G outing against sixth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves who will be seeking their first home league win of 2016.

Other action coming at Rectory Road being the venue at which eighth place Shefford Town & Campton Reserves seek out their third home win on the bounce against second from bottom of the table Houghton Athletic whose lone away win of the season in their eight outings to date was achieved at bottom of the table AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves.

Whilst at Greenfield Road it’s Quarter Final Centenary Cup action where hosts Westoning beaten just the once on home soil this season entertain Ickleford and for the winners awaits a trip to Henlow at the Semi-final stage.

Division Two action will see league leaders Cranfield United Reserves in home action at Crawley Road defending their seasons unbeaten ways against fourth place Flitwick Town Reserves who have not won on the road since winning at Atletico Europa back in November some five games ago . Whilst second place Atletico Europa will be hitting the road for Cutler Hammer looking to take their unbeaten league ways up to three games against the hosting second from bottom of the table Kempston Athletic who will be search of just their second home win of the season.

For the other two clubs still there in with a shout of lifting the league title it’s home action. At Grange Road third place Cople & Bedford SA will be looking to return to winning ways on home soil against the visiting ninth place Wootton Village who are yet to win on the road this season. Whilst at King George VI Playing Fields fifth place Clapham Sports defend their seasons 100% home ways against sixth place Lea Sports PSG who will arrive in town looking for their first away win of 2016.

The final action of the day in this division coming at the Hockey Centre being the venue at which eighth place Bedford United look to take their unbeaten home ways up to four games against the visiting seventh place Kempston Hammers Sports who will be looking to avoid their third consecutive away defeat.

In Division Three it’s away action for the top two clubs. League leaders Wixams on the road to Redborne School for a 3G outing against Dinamo Flitwick looking to take their unbeaten league ways up to six games against a Dinamo side that are now unbeaten in their last three league starts but just seven days after Watson Shield action between these sides saw the league leaders emerge the 6-1 winners .

Over at Harvey Close having been KO by AFC Dunton in Jubilee Cup action just 14 days ago third place hosts Caldecote Reserves winners of their last seven home league outings have a chance for some quick revenge when the boys from Horseshoes Close pay them a revisit. Whilst fifth place Wilstead Reserves seek out their fourth away league win on the bounce when they journey to Whiston Crescent to be hosted by bottom of the table Clifton who are currently on a nine game losing league run.

The final action of the day in this division taking place at Miller Road being the venue at which second from bottom of the table Meltis Albion Reserves with just one home league win to their name all season play hosts to seventh place White Eagles who themselves have lost their last four league outings.

In Division Four the action is down to just a programme of three games and for second place Polonia Bedford that means a trip to the Football Centre to be hosted by seventh place Flitwick Town A who are now unbeaten in their last four league starts. Whilst third place Bedford Albion will be in home Woodlands action against sixth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College A who will be looking to repair the damage of three consecutive league defeats.

The final game coming at Hurst Grove being the venue at which bottom of the table Lidlington United Sports seek out their first point/points of the season against the visiting fifth place Stevington Reserves who travel in search of their third away league win on the bounce.
