Barton Rovers fought back from a goal down to ensure they claimed a point at Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday thanks to Jason Blackett’s late leveller.

On a bitterly cold and blustery day, it was never going to be a classic at Holloways Park, although both teams managed to produce an entertaining affair.

Barton made a good start when both Russell Bull and Blackett went close before the hosts had some decent chances themselves.

Beaconsfield created the best opportunity too when Callum Bunting forced keeper Kyle Forster into a couple of fine close range saves.

In the second period, Omari Patrick broke the deadlock for the hosts after he raced through Rovers’ defence to finish past Forster in the 58th minute.

Going behind spurred Barton on and some great play from James Bishop and Blackett nearly brought the equaliser only to see home keeper Brendon Hazlett pull off a good stop.

However, the leveller finally came when Jordan Davis beat his marker to set Blackett free and he tapped home from close range with 10 minutes to go. Davis then almost won it for his side as the clock ticked down, but saw goalbound shot cleared off the line by a last-ditch lunge by Beaconsfield’s defence.
