Blues continue to march towards title

Molten Spartan SML, Premier Division: Dunstable Town 4 Colney Heath 0

Two goals in each half saw Dunstable Town secure a comfortable 4-0 win over Colney Heath in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division on Saturday.

The visitors had won their last four games at Creasey Park, but this victory sees Town remain well clear at the top with seven games to go as they are the only team in the country with an unbeaten league record.

Dunstable started strongly as Nathan Frater hit the bar, while he put the Blues ahead on 25 minutes with a free kick.

Graeme Buchanan cleared off the line for Blues, while with Moses Olaleye governing the midfield, and Frater and Lee Roache in predatory mood, the next goal finally arrived on 38 minutes.

Lee Roache outpaced his marker on to Nick Jackson’s drilled through ball and fired home from close range.

In the second half, it was not until four minutes from time that Roache bulged the top left had corner with a fine shot as he moved to 49 goals for the season.

A minute later, substitute BJ Christie then scored from an almost replica situation.

Director of football John McLoughlin said: It was another great win. The boys are on fire. The first goal is to win the league, get into the cup final, then take a step backwards and go unbeaten in the league as this has never been achieved and the boys need challenges in football.”

Town travel to Hillingdon Borough on Tuesday.

Blues: Taylor, Mills, Mead, Leach, Buchanan (Pickering), Carney, Olaleye, Jackson, Roache, Frater (Fontanelle), Burnett (Christie).

Substitutes not used: Head.
