Dunstable Town’s eight game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end as they were hammered 5-1 at Chesham United on Tuesday night.

The visitors had been level at 1-1 at the interval, before a poor second half saw them conceded four times without reply.

Dunstable were boosted by the return of Connor Calcutt, who came on as a substitute in the second half, although Gary Wharton missed out.

Striker Lee Roache was denied an early opener by the post, before Chesham were ahead on 26 minutes when Ryan Blake’s corner was turned into his own net by keeper Jamie Head.

Dunstable were level almost immediately though as David Keenleyside set up Danny Talbot for his third goal in two games.

United went close before the break as Dave Pearce was narrowly wide, while Keenleyside’s lob was the nearest the Blues came.

Dunstable fell apart in the second period though as Joe Gater made it 2-1 on 47 minutes, and two minutes later, the lead was doubled through Curtis Ujah.

The fourth then arrived on 52 minutes as Matt Taylor easily beat the stretched defence to gleefully score, as Dunstable were shell-shocked.

They tried to mount a fightback, Howard Hall’s set up Talbot for an effort that was saved by Gore, while Adam Watkins saw his attempt fly wide.

A poor clearance from Head almost led to a fifth, while Kelvin Bossman also wasted a glorious chance for the hosts, although they did add one more in the closing seconds when Blake was on target.

Dunstable now head to Frome Town this weekend.
