Barton Rovers let a two goal lead slip to lose 4-3 at league strugglers Leighton Town on Boxing Day.

Gallant put the hosts in front after just three minutes but Kevin Kilroy levelled matters midway through the first half and Barton went into the break 2-1 up thanks to a 40th minute goal from Alex O’Brien.

Paul Andrews netted shortly after to put Rovers firmly in the box seat. But within three minutes Leighton had wiped out the deficit with quickfire goals from Hatch and Jenkins.

Gallant struck the winner with 13 minutes to go giving Leighton only their second home win in the Southern League Division One Central this season. Barton hit the bar with a late penalty.

Rovers, who sit 18th in the table, host fifth placed Aylesbury on Saturday.

In the SSML Premier AFC Dunstable were surprisingly held to a 0-0 draw at second from bottom Bedford.

They visit in-form Biggleswade United on Saturday, January 2.

Crawley Green’s charge at the top of the SSML Division One was temporarily put on hold when their scheduled match at home to Langford on Monday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They begin 2016 top of the table with just one defeat all season. They continue with a home league fixture against Ampthill Town on Wednesday, January 6.

The 61FC (Luton) pulled off a very creditable 1-1 draw at home to second-placed AFC Hillgate in SSML Division Two.

They host Kent Athletic on Saturday, who did not play over the festive period.

Totternhoe, who also didn’t play, welcome Tring Corinthians on Saturday.
