A solitary seventh-minute Lewis Horsburgh goal was all that split the sides on the night, but underdogs Rovers gave as good as they got in a battling performance.

Efforts from Brad Johnson, Xavi Sweeney and Alex Condon were saved and, despite pressing at the end, Barton couldn’t find an equaliser.

Portsmouth Radio station Express FM, who broadcast the game live, named Barton’s Condon as man of the match.
