Cuthbert to stay as Town skipper for now

Hatters boss Nathan Jones has confirmed that Scott Cuthbert will remain as club captain for the time being despite the additions of Alan Sheehan and Johnny Mullins this summer.

Cuthbert was handed the armband by previous Luton chief John Still and continued in the role when Jones took over in January.

An injury to the centre back saw Sheehan named as skipper for the final seven games of the season, while Mullins captained Oxford to promotion from League Two last year as well.

Jones said: “At the minute, we have Scott Cuthbert as our captain. We wanted to bring in more leaders to the squad and we felt we’ve done that, with Johnny, with Alan, and with the others we’ll add.

“They will all have an element of leadership to them because we feel we need that, so it’s good that we have those options.

“At the minute, Scott is our captain, and there’s no issue there at all, because he’s proved a good club captain for me and I’ve got no problems with that.”
