DDunstable ease through Trophy tie

DUNSTABLE Town opened their Molten Spartan SML Challenge Trophy campaign with a 3-0 home win over Division Two side Kent Athletic in the first round on Tuesday night.

Nick Jackson wasted a number of great opportunities for the Blues, who were beaten in extra-time in last year’s final by promoted Chalfont St Peter, before taking the lead from Peter Holmes’ free-kick.

With three substitutes on in the second half Dunstable again raided the Athletic goal and Stephen Coles, making his first start since his return, scored number two with a low shot from the edge of the area.

Town wrapped up the tie when Holmes added his second of the night.

Nathan Frater then came very close to number four as Dunstable continued their unbeaten start to the season.

On Saturday, Blues drew 2-2 at London Tigers in the Premier Division, Holmes and Jackson on target. This Saturday they entertain Broxbourne Borough in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup and on Tuesday travel to Hatfield in the league.
