Former Barton hot-shot earns Football League bow

The 20-year-old, who was snapped up the Premier League Eagles in February had been plying his trade in the Southern League Division One Central prior to his move, but was named in the starting line-up at Bramall Lane.

He completed 90 minutes in the 3-1 defeat, as speaking to Rovers’ official website about his move, Anderson said: “I’ve been wanting to get a good loan move and Doncaster have come in so I’m happy to be here and get some experience.

“Fitness-wise it’s been a bit of a test, getting to the level of where others are performing at.

“Physically I’ve had to bulk up too but I’ve fitted in well and back myself in terms of ability.

“It was crazy when it (the move) happened.

“This time last year I was playing semi-pro and then a year down the line I’m at a Premier League club.”

On how the move came about, Anderson continued: “I’ve come into training after the game on Monday and the gaffer (Alan Pardew) has pulled me into the office as I was getting my breakfast – I thought I was in trouble!

“He said that there’d be a few teams interested and he said personally he thought I should come here.

“Obviously I’m always going to take what the gaffer says. I thought it was a good move, to play League One.

“He said that it would probably be the best move for me.

“I like to think that I bring a lot of energy to the team and am always on the move.

“I like to think that I’m a good goal scorer so hopefully I can come in to the team and get some goals and push the team up the league.

“It’d be good to get some playing time at league level.

“I’ve got six goals in five games so hopefully I can get a game and a goal.”
