Door remains open for Doyle at Luton

The door has been left open for Nathan Doyle at Luton proving the midfielder wants to take his chance, according to boss Nathan Jones.

Doyle, 29, hasn’t featured since Jones took over, making just 14 appearances in an injury-hit season, with his last coming back December 6, when Luton lost 2-0 at Peterborough.

However, Jones said: “Nathan has a big decision to make, it’s in Nathan’s court if he wants to play for this club then he has to do certain things and I’ll keep the door open for Nathan.

“If he doesn’t do those things then we won’t be able to move forward with him.

“Now, he has wonderful ability, but he has to improve certain elements of his game if he’s going to impact on our side, but the ball is in his court, we’ve set him that task and hopefully he goes away and takes that on board.”

When asked if those were fitness issues that the former Barnsley and Bradford player need to improve, Jones added: “He has a fantastic pedigree, we just need players here that we know what we’re going to get from week in week out and that’s the conversation I’ve had with Nathan.

“If Nathan goes away and shows me he really wants to pay for Luton Town then he can.”
