Just before half time, Steven Gregory’s fierce shot drew a fine save from Paul Strudley and Jemale McKenzie-Lowe headed against the underside of the bar.

The Blues were then hit by three goals in the space of five minutes, leaving them with a mountain to climb.

First Charlie Mpi made it 2-0 and then Mark Draycott bagged the first of what became his hat-trick, while O’Brien added a fourth in stoppage time to leave Creasey Park shell-shocked.

To their credit, Dunstable came out for the second half and produced a spirited display as Christopher Marsh pulled one back, firing in the goal of the game just after the hour mark.

Hungerford quickly restored their four goal cushion though as Draycott set off on mazy run to find the net.

Sub Isaac Osbi-Tutu ought to had netted his side’s fifth, but Dunstable had another lifeline on 77 minutes when McKenzie-Lowe netted a majestic strike.

However, with time running out, Draycott completed his hat-trick with another masterful goal as the game was up for Dunstable.
