Dunstable Town earned their first away win in the league since November 26 with a fine 1-0 triumph at King’s Lynn Town on Saturday.

The visitors had gone into the game without Danny Talbot, who took up the joint manager’s position at Chesham United in the week, while Zack Reynolds and Harry Bean were missing too.

The Blues did welcome Chesham’s former coach, Sean Preece, to their dug out, while Bradley Hewitt was back, with Claudio Diaz on the bench alongside Luton Town U18s striker James Verney.

Early on, Eoin McQuaid shot well wide for the Linnets as did Kegan Everington, before Dunstable came into the game, with Danny Green and Josh Oyinsan seeing their efforts blocked, while Adam Moussi drew a good stop from keeper Alex Street.

Ryan Harnwell skied well over for Lynn, although Jacek Zielonka drew a smart one handed save from Blues keeper Jack Smith, while the visitors defence looked secure thanks to Hewitt’s towering presence, as well as Gedeon Okito’s willingness to get the ball forward from deep.

Adam Pepera’s free-kick was routinely gathered by Street in the final action of the half, as Dunstable could reflect on an encouraging 45 minutes after last week’s 5-0 defeat to Leamington.

In the second period and Josh Oyinsan thought he had opened the scoring, heading in a rebound, but was adjudged offside, although the hosts went close, Sam Cartwright’s shot saved by Smith.

Dunstable rang the changes, with Diaz, Verney and significantly Jet Esso coming off the bench, as it was the latter (85) who scored the only goal just two minutes after entering the fray, squeezing his shot in at the far post, following good work by his fellow substitutes.
