The Town chief has plenty of scope to work with now, having released 11 players from the club since the campaign ended recently.

When asked about new additions, Jones highlighted the importance of getting his business done early if possible, as he said: “We want to get a certain level of player in early, we know the targets we really want and we’re going to try and get those in early.

“Once we’re able to do that then we’ll be able to be a little more patient as we do feel that there’ll be a lot of players out of contract, a lot of players that will want to come to Luton Town.

“We believe that we have a certain attraction as a club and the work that we do will attract a certain type of player.

“So we’re not going to rush into anything, we have ones that we know we want to speak to early.

“We’re going to try and do that as soon as we can and if we can then brilliant.

“Then we can afford to be a little bit more patient on others, and then just add pure quality to the squad, not quantity.”
