Town chief Nathan Jones would love to work with striker Joe Pigott again in the future, despite admitting he didn’t try and re-sign him during the summer.
The 22-year-old forward, who finished last season on loan at Kenilworth Road scoring four times in 15 games, was available on a free transfer after being released by Charlton Athletic.

However, although confirming to the News/Gazette that Pigott was on his radar, once Jones persuaded Danny Hylton to join, his interest in the former Addicks frontman cooled, with Cambridge United securing his services on a one year deal.
Jones said: “I think Joe’s a fantastic player and it would be wrong of me to comment on another player, but we had some tough decisions to make.
“Our first choice one we wanted to bring in was Danny Hylton and from there on it became a little bit more difficult.

“It was just not possible at the time to do it and I wish him all the best except for when he comes up against us.”
