Glen Rea leads the applause after Town celebrate beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Kenilworth Road

Hatters rated: Luton Town 1 Sheffield Wednesday 0

Luton breathed life into their bid to avoid relegation from the Championship by beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Kenilworth Road last night.

The Hatters led through James Collins' 23rd minute goal and held on to secure a first clean sheet since mid-October as they moved off the bottom of the table. See below for how the Town players rated on the night.

Finally got the clean sheet his recent performances have deserved. Didnt have much to do, but was a vocal presence throughout, alert to parry from Harris and then bravely commanded his area too.

Tigerish display, particularly second half when Luton had something tangible to hold on to, as he won his headers, even while on the floor. Took up some good positions earlier too, crossing for Tunnicliffe to go close.

After an early spell of pressure by Wednesday, got tighter to his winger to prevent the threats from out wide. Thought he had made it 2-0 late on only to see the goal chalked off for an apparent infringement on keeper Dawson.

Defender is in a rich vein of form right now as he was the stand-out member of Town's back-line. One magnificent block from Lees saved a certain goal, as his no-nonsense style was lapped up by the home supporters.
