Luton Town have mutually agreed to cancel the contract of defender Paul Connolly.
The 31-year-old joined the Hatters on a free transfer in the summer and made his debut in the 1-0 win at Carlisle on the opening day of the season.
However the former Plymouth, Leeds and Derby man was restricted to just another five appearances, with his last coming in the 2-1 defeat at Cambridge in the FA Cup in January.
After the news was made public, Connolly himself tweeted: “Lots of reasons why it didn’t work out. I can’t and won’t say too much more.
“Trust me when I say it wasn’t through lack of trying. I wish players and the great fans all the success in the world.
“I hope to visit wembley for the play off final to see Luton town get promoted. Keep the faith.”
