Hatters boss John Still will continue to cast an eye over trialist Mustafa Tiryaki after the striker featured against Boreham Wood in last night’s pre-season friendly.
The 28-year-old, who has played for Tranmere and Cambridge in his career, scored both goals in Luton’s 2-1 win at Lowestoft on Sunday, and then played over an hour yesterday evening.
“He’s a target man, a big lad, powerful, strong – a typical centre forward.”John Still
Still said: “He trained with us the end of last season a bit, so we brought him in to have a look and he played on Sunday.
“I thought we’d play him a bit longer (against Boreham Wood), just to see where he is and I think he’s a handful, I really do.
“He’s still finding his way in terms of fitness, he never came to Portugal with us as he’s injured, so he’s probably a bit behind on his fitness but he’s all right so we’ll have a look.
“Once again, there’s a month before the season starts, so lets wait and see.”
On how he came across Tiryaki, Still added: “I knew him when he played for Havant & Waterlooville.
“He went off to Tranmere and then went to play in Turkey, before coming back.
“He’s a target man, a big lad, powerful, strong – a typical centre forward.
“We’ll see how he goes in training, see how he goes in the games and evaluate him from there.”
