Hatters boss Nathan Jones is remaining tight-lipped over speculation surrounding a loan move for Brighton & Hove Albion defender Glen Rea.
The Luton chief was linked with the 21-year-old centre half who is now back at the Amex Stadium after a successful loan spell at League One Southend United.
“Whoever comes in has to be players that are going to add quality to the 11 as otherwise there’s no point bringing anyone in.”Nathan Jones
Rea, who has also played for Ireland U21s, is well known to Jones, who was first team coach with the Seagulls prior to being named Hatters manager.
Speaking to the press this afternoon, he said: “I wouldn’t want to speculate on anyone else’s players.
“Glen’s a player I know very, very well and he’s an excellent player, but there’s nothing in the pipeline at the minute.
“I’m not going to comment on Brighton. he’s a Brighton player and it would be wrong of me to comment on that.
“If we’re looking to do anything then we’ll let you know on that.”
Speaking about making additions during the transfer window though, Jones added: “What we look to do is if there is an opportunity to strengthen the squad, then we’ll do that, but as I said, we’re not just going to add numbers.
“We have to add in specific positions and we have to add quality. Whoever comes in has to be players that are going to add quality to the 11 as otherwise there’s no point bringing anyone in.”
