New Luton signing Alan Sheehan believes his side are still capable of reaching the League Two play-offs this season.

The Bradford City defender penned a deal until the end of the campaign at Kenilworth Road, joining a side who had been faltering badly this term.

However, Saturday’s 2-0 win at Mansfield on his debut, saw Town cut the gap to the top seven to eight points ahead of home games with Notts County and Yeovil Town.

The 29-year-old said: “It’s one game in, a great day, let’s enjoy it and we move on because it’s a play-off push, that’s what we’re here for.

“Looking at the table is probably not as favourable, but I don’t want to be in this league, he (Nathan Jones) doesn’t want to be in this league, so we’ve got something in common.”

That view was echoed by new chief recruitment officer Mick Harford added: “If he can get a couple of back to back wins he’ll start climbing up the league and confidence grows.

“You never know what can happen in football, but we haven’t given up on this season, no way.”
