Still honoured to lead Hatters at the Prostate Cancer UK Stadium

Luton’s Kenilworth Road ground has been renamed for one day only as Town entertain Wycombe Wanderers in front of the Sky TV cameras and Still hopes it will help get the message across.

He said: “It’s a weird thing, but when this all came about, I know it might sound a bit soppy, but it’s almost like an honour.

“That’s how I feel to be involved and to be the manager of the club that’s hosting this event.

“I think all of us men, although we’re maybe as aware as we should be, we’re not as forceful about our bodies as we are with our cars.

“Your car’s not working properly, you put it in, check it over, have a look at the oil, all of that.

“Something’s not quite right in your body and you think ‘it will be all right next week, I don’t want to go and queue up at the doctors’. So I think anything that promotes something that obviously affects so many men, is an absolute must.

“If we can convince or help anyone to go and see their doctor that feels they have something that needs checking out, then we’ve played a massive part in what this charity is all about.”

Chief executive Gary Sweet continued: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be involved in what I think is a magical charity, it’s a wonderful thing that Mike and his team are doing.

“We felt we wanted to get involved and had the opportunity when Mike and his people approached us.

“With Kenilworth Road’s capacity being broadly the same number of people that lose their lives to the disease every single year, we felt that was quite poignant.”

Meanwhile, Prostate Cancer UK spokesman Mike Summers added: “If it means men go down the pub and have a conversation about prostate cancer and that in turn might make them go and look on the internet and learn about it about, go and see their doctor. If that saves one life from what we do tomorrow then its completely worthwhile.”
