Barton Rovers saw off local rivals Bedford Town in the Beds Senior Cup on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 victory.

The visitors had the upper hand early on as Barton’s keeper Kyle Forster was called into action in the 15th minute pulling off two very good saves.

He then made an even better stop moments later to deny Josh Bamford the opener.

It took until the 43rd minute before Rovers made visiting keeper Maxime Fondop work for his money, as he had to tip a blistering 30-yard drive behind.

Barton were beginning to get on top as the half drew to a close and were in front second before the break.

Ashton Grant picked up the ball in the middle of the park, beat two players and threaded an inch perfect pass for James Bishop to slide past Fondop for the opener.

After the break, Barton doubled their lead on 51 minutes as Bishop turned provider, delivering an excellent cross for U18 debutant Tyler Ingham to hold off his marker and smash home a first senior goal.

Ingham was named man of the match, with a performance that surely see him become a regular in the first team as the season progresses.
Barton await their semi-final opponents and host Fleet Town in the league on Saturday.
