Jones excited to have McQuoid available for Luton

Hatters boss Nathan Jones believes the return of attacker Josh McQuoid is a timely boost for the side.

McQuoid, who has missed the last two months with a knee injury, was named on the bench for the 2-1 defeat at Barnet on Easter Monday.

With Craig Mackail-Smith looking likely to miss the rest of the campaign, Jones believes McQuoid’s availability will soften that blow, as he said: “Because we’re missing Craig as well, it’s massive as this gives us that same type of option, that same type of pace and movement.

“It’s good to have Josh back anyway, I know Josh from before, he was unfortunate enough to get injured in my first game which killed him, but also hindered my choices as well.

“So he’s looked shap, been excellent in training and we’re excited to have him back.”

Jones is yet to start McQuoid, who has played 28 times this term, scoring four goals, as his only appearance since the new boss took over was coming on a substitute during the 0-0 draw against Cambridge at Kenilworth Road.

However, the Town boss is well aware what he can bring to the side, adding: “I know Josh anyway, from his time at Bournemouth and his time at Millwall, so I’ve played against him, know what type of threat he is, what type of player he is.

“It’s good to have him back because he’s an important player for us, important player for our squad, important player for our team and he gives us something different.”
