With over 500 travelling to Plymouth for the 1-0 win on Saturday, plus news that the club had sold out their allocation of 1,810 for Monday’s trip to Barnet, Jones said: “They’re excellent, they’re superb, we have the best fans, the best fans in this division.

“That (win at Plymouth) was reward for them, but as I keep reiterating, I want to give them a team they can be proud of and they can get behind.

“They’re seeing that, away from home they’ve seen it, at home, now they’re seeing it.

“They should be proud of that team because I’m proud of that team, I’m not seeing anything different than they are and I’m proud of that team.”

Striker Jack Marriott was also left in awe of the support Hatters received at Home Park on Saturday, saying: “It was incredible and the main thing is they’re going home happy, we’re going home happy, that’s what we came all this way for.

“It’s a long journey down, a long journey back but there’ll be some smiling faces on the coach.”

Meanwhile, new signing Glen Rea added: “They were unreal, we’ve sent them home with the three points, hopefully they’re buzzing.”
