Jones hopeful that Sheehan will be fit for Morecambe
Hatters boss Nathan Jones is hoping that on-loan centre half Alan Sheehan will be fit for tonight's League Two clash against Morecambe.
The 29-year-old has been a big hit since joining from Bradford City, but limped off during the final moments of Saturday’s 3-2 win at York City after colliding with the post trying to keep out the Minstermen’s first equaliser.
When asked if he would recover in time, Jones said: “I hope so. We’ve got a few knocks, a few bruises as you get in tough away games.
“With the game coming so soon now, we’ll have to dust a few down and away they have to go.
“But that’s the thing, pros do, that’s the good thing about it. I used to like that myself, the aches and pains and kicks.
“Once the adrenaline kicks in you go again, so hopefully we can do that with Sheez.”
Jones would be loathe to chance a back four that has started the last seven games together, as he continued: “It is a good blend of experience, the back four is a decent back four in terms of playing, in terms of age.
“Scott Cuthbert, Sheez, the full backs, even though they’re not old in age, they’ve both played games.
“Then Tyles (Mark Tyler) has played more than most, so we’ve got a good blend and it takes that.
“You can’t just have young players and just rely on those all the time. You need the blend of youth and experience and ability and guile and work-rate. Once you put all those together then hopefully you can come up with a good side.”
