The boss has been pushing the likes of Tyreeq Bakinson, James Justin, Frankie Musonda and Akin Famewo during Luton’s pre-season campaign, as he already handed the first three league debuts during his six months in charge.

Jones started Bakinson, Musonda and Famewo in the 1-1 draw with Woking last night, while he is continuing to promote from within, as youth teamers Cameron McJannett and Freddie Hinds both featured as well.

On his batch of talented teenagers, Jones said: “There’s a few, Alex Atkinson and Cameron McJanett that you class as youngsters.

“They’re ones we’re trying to get to a certain level, the others are at that level.

“So we can keep talking about the youngsters, but they’re not youngsters now.

“Tyreeq is part of our squad, so he’s not a youngster, Zane Banton is part of our squad, Akin (Famewo) has stepped up, JJ (James Justin) is part of our squad, so they’re not youngsters, they’re actually Luton Town pros.”
