Jones urges transfer-listed trio to find new clubs

Hatters boss Nathan Jones hopes transfer-listed trio Magnus Okuonghae, Mark O'Brien and Matt Robinson do all they can to find themselves new clubs before the start of the new season.

Neither O’Brien or Robinson have featured for Jones since he took over, while Okuonghae, who had an injury-hit season at Kenilworth Road, played just six times under the Luton chief and 18 times in total this term.

Jones confirmed that none of the three would be in his plans next season, saying: “We hope they do, because they’re great lads, they’ve got a good attitude and we’ve informed them, that when they come back, they won’t be training with us, because we need to move forward with 20.

“It’s not a financial thing with those, in terms of we have to get one out to get one in. There’s a budget here for 27 players, we’re only going to get 20.

“I compromised a little bit on the squad as we needed to do that, but we won’t be doing that in pre-season.

“We will train in a group of 20 and those outside the 20 will train with a separate group.

“We’ll be as fair as we can with them, but we’ve told them very early in the hope that they have enough ambition that they say ‘no, I want to continue to play.’

“That’s important to find other clubs so that they can further their career.”
