Jones wants to rewards Hatters' '˜outstanding' supporters
Luton boss Nathan Jones is desperate to give something back to Hatters fans after another superb following at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
With over 1,400 Town followers cheering their side on to a crucial 1-0 victory at Brisbane Road to keep their once forlorn play-off hopes in tact, Jones said: “What a great following we had, it was outstanding.
“We outsang Orient. All I heard from Orient was second fiddle to what we had, as they just sang constantly.
“I’m really pleased we’ve given them a three points and they’re filling me with that kind of desire and that kind of passion and I want to give them something.
“I said I want to give them a team they can be proud of. Every single one of those, they can go away and say, ‘Okay, we didnt do this, didn’t do that,’ but every single one of our players gave them something to get behind and that would have been a wonderful journey back to Bedfordshire.”
The travelling army were greeted by a hugely animated Jones after the game, whose post-match celebrations after a victory are swiftly becoming hugely popular with supporters.
Captain Scott Cuthbert said: “Fans love that. He’s a passionate guy, his passion feeds on to the players, and the fans will love his passion that’s for sure.
“They were different class though, every away game they travel in numbers.
“They were excellent all throughout and we’re absolutely chuffed we gave them a result to go back home with.”
Meanwhile, Jones believes that the level of support shown by the club’s followers to him and the side during his brief reign wouldn’t be out of place in the higher echelons of the Football League.
He added: “The away fans are ridiculous, we take more than Championship clubs. The away support is fantastic, as is the home as they all turn out every week.
“We love the fans, we love the support we get and to take that many people, being a League Two club, we’re not a League Two club, we’re just playing in League Two. It’s outstanding and we know we’ve got that.”
