Kennoy vows there will be changes at Rovers

Daventry Town 3 Barton Rovers 0

A poor first half showing from Barton Rovers left them with an impossible mountain to climb as they lost 3-0 at Daventry Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central on Tuesday night.

Scott Cross opened the scoring after just eight minutes and Trevor McCready (23 and 32) added a brace as the hosts led 3-0 at the interval.

Despite making a raft of substitutions from the bench there was no way back for the Blues as manager Dan Kennoy vowed to makes changes after witnessing his side’s sixth straight league defeat.

He said: “It was another disappointing result and performance.

“Having literally lost the game in the first half we rang the changes at half time and the response was much better.

“We will be releasing some players later this week in order to bring some players in and freshen things up as we cannot accept half-hearted performances at the club.

“You need committed and hungry players when you’re going through a poor run and we simply do not have that on the pitch.

“Any players that we bring in will need to match the hunger and desire I have to move Barton Rovers forward.

“I thought Paul Andrews, Tommy Hull, Bobby Dance and Aaron Lanisquot showed they wanted to fight for the club over the 90 minutes.

“Some of the other players bucked their ideas up at half time but that is still not good enough.

“You can be a talented footballer at this level of football, but without determination, work ethic and a will to win a game of football, it doesn’t matter how good you are.

“It’s a lesson some of this group need to learn very fast otherwise they’ll find themselves looking for a new club.”

This weekend Barton travel to Slough Town.
