Striker Paul Benson will put in extra time on the training ground to try and play some part of Town’s trip to Stevenage this weekend.

The forward netted twice as Luton beat Gillingham 5-2 in a Development League cup clash on Tuesday afternoon, and although not completely up to speed, wants to feature.

He said: “As long as I get through the rest of the week, then I would like to be involved, but that’s a question for the gaffer.

“I need to work on a few things, Thursday, Friday to try and get a bit more extra running in.

“I want to do a little bit more extra to get to where I want to be as I don’t like playing in games where I don’t feel phyiscally at my best.”

Benson last played in the 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury, as he has missed the last five games with a troublesome glute.

In his absence, Hatters have gone on a four game unbeaten run, winning three, and the striker believes they have adapted quickly to life in League Two.
