Boss left to rue errors

INDIVIDUAL mistakes are costing Hatters dear according to manager Gary Brabin, writes Mike Simmonds.

The boss saw Town concede yet another injury-time goal to draw 2-2 with Kettering on Tuesday night, three days after Kidderminster Harriers had also stolen a point with a late leveller.

Brabin said: “I’m absolutely gutted. I thought we applied ourselves from minute one right until the end.

“We were very attack minded, played some great football but at the moment, I’ve said to the lads and stand by what I said, we needed to be brave to get our attacking play right and individual errors are killing us.

“We’re putting a bit more responsibility on the defensive side of the game, the players are good enough to deal with that.

“It’s just a little bit alien to some at the moment and I’m sure it will get better.”

There were plenty of aspects that pleased Brabin though, as he awaits a first win in charge of the club.

He added: “I thought we looked really dangerous on the attack and thought (Keith) Keane and (Alex) Lawless were outstanding in midfield, worked really hard.

“There were loads of players I’m delighted with. We played with a good tempo, went 1-0 up and they’ve scored straight away (after half time) again. I thought we could have dealt with that a little bit better, but I know we’re going to get teething problems at first.

“When we scored the second, you’re willing the third and again they’ve piled on the pressure, bombed forward, taking chances. I thought we dived in a little bit on the edge of the box and the ball’s rolled through to their player who has equalised.”
