Broken promises give Beckwith his Hatters chance

MISLED defender Dean Beckwith has admitted to his shock at being released by Northampton Town this summer after being almost ever-present last term, writes Mark Wood.

The 27-year-old defender was led to understand that his future at Sixfields was secure but has spoken of his delight at joining the Hatters after the club’s virtues were extolled by former defensive partner Craig Hinton.

He said: “Under the old manager Ian Sampson at Christmas time he said they wanted to offer me a new deal and we would try and get something sorted out.”
