Luton midfielder Jordan Clark can’t wait to run out in front of the Town fans as what he is determined to make sure is a Championship player again next season.

The 27-year-old has managed it on just two occasions since arriving at Kenilworth Road from Accrington Stanley in the summer, with 1,000 and then 2,000 supporters allowed in when the Hatters took on Norwich City and Preston North End back in December.

Coronavirus restrictions were then reinforced to put a stop to crowds attending games once more, with Championship grounds to remain empty until the new campaign begins in August.

Clark wants to make sure that is with Luton remaining in the second tier, a task that looks a foregone conclusion following Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Coventry City.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, he said: “It’s tough, I’ve said it loads of times, football without fans is not the same.

“I just hope we can get them back as soon as possible as this place (Kenilworth Road) when I’ve played in here as an opposition player, it’s always tough and one of the hardest places to come.

“I just can’t wait to experience that as a Luton Town player, I can’t believe it’s been a year now, it’s crazy, but it is what it is.

"We’ve just got to get fans back in as soon as possible and I’m sure it will make a massive difference.

“We don’t want to be anywhere near the relegation zone, so get as many points as we can from now until the end of the season and give this club Championship football again next season.

“I want to be a Championship player, the club wants to be a Championship club and we want to progress as much as we can this season and go into next season as well, so I’m looking forward to it already.”

A lack of fans has hindered all clubs this season and Clark felt a full house could have seen them push not just for a draw against Swansea in their 1-0 defeat on Saturday, but a bid for all three points.

He added: "You get 10,000 in here it gives you that extra yard and that extra push and who knows what would have happened?

"We might have nicked a goal, maybe even won the game with the crowd behind you."
